What Do Board Members Do?
All board members are responsible for governing the community association’s activities. They must uphold the code set for them by the board and all applicable laws. The board determines how the Association conducts its mission through short—and long-term planning and oversight.
Why Join the Board of Directors?
In the past, many members were grounded in the history of our town and the issues being presented. Since then, many have passed, moved out of the area, or onto other endeavors.
We now find ourselves in a time of replenishment and need others in the community to step up. Being a part of the board can provide young members of our community with their first board experience and keep us apprised of the younger generations’ priorities. Folks in their older years are equally valued as members, as they can use the gems of their work life when dealing with current issues. Being on the board gives us a first-hand opportunity to be aware of development in the area and how we can be involved in the processes.
Apply to Be a Board Member
Whatever your experience, we welcome you to apply for a board position. The only prerequisite is that you live on annexed property in Town Center and can provide proof of this address as your primary residence. (Note: Marlow apartment building is NOT on the Town Center annexed property.) You also must make yourself available for an interview by the Town Center Board on September 10 at 7:15 PM. The Board will vote on candidates that evening. Click here to apply.
Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM, mostly in person at Historic Oakland, but virtually occasionally, and generally last one hour. Meetings are open to the public, and you are welcome to come observe how our collegial board works. For further information, email [email protected]
